Macao high school student arrested for having sex with 14-year-old girl

MACAO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- A 21-year-old local high school student, who was accused of having sex with a 14-year-old local girl 20 times between March and September 2008, has been sent to the Special Administrative Region's (SAR) Public Prosecutions Office, the Macao Daily Times reported on Thursday.

The daily quoted PJ spokesman Chan Kin Hong as saying that the suspect, surnamed Chiu, and the victim knew each other when going to the same school in 2007, and the girl agree to Chiu's sexual request, when she came to his home in March last year.

Afterwards, they had voluntary sexual intercourse for about 20 times during the following six months, the police spokesman added.

The girl's mother discovered the incident after finding a condom in her daughter's bedroom, and she attempted to settle it by asking the high school student for "compensation" or to marry her daughter, who was not pregnant, according to the PJ spokesman. The girl's mother reported the case to the PJ after Chiu refused to accept her demands.

The PJ has urged parents or guardians to report to police immediately if they have any knowledge of this kind of incidents as not to encourage the growth of this phenomenon in Macao.
