Four dead, eight hurt as bus plunges into reservoir in eastern China

HANGZHOU, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Four people died and
eight others were injured after a bus veered off a road and plunged into a
reservoir in east China's Zhejiang Province Thursday, local traffic police said.

The accident took place at about 10:30 a.m. in the
countryside of Chun'an County as the bus traveled between rural towns, a
spokesman with the county traffic police said.

There is a drop of 35 meters from the road to the
reservoir, which is 2 m deep, the spokesman said.

The bus was carrying 12 people, all local villagers,
he said.

The driver, surnamed Wang who was aged 40, was among
the dead.

Seven people were hospitalized in stable condition,
the spokesman said.

Local police are investigating the accident, he
added.
