SHIJIAZHUANG, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed, one was injured
and one is missing after a fireworks explosion Monday at a farmhouse in north
China's Hebei Province, local police said.
The explosion occurred in Balizhuang Village, of Shawa Township in Hejian
City, at about noon when a room was reduced to rubble, a policeman with the
city's police station said.
The blast, caused by illegal storage of fireworks according to an initial
police investigation, killed villagers Zhao Yanwei and Zhao Yanhua and injured
Zhao Yanqin. The three, who were sisters, lived under the same roof. Police said
Zhao Yanqin was out of danger.
Zhao Yanwei's husband, Liu Wei, is missing.
"We have a license to sell fireworks," said Liu Tieqiao, Liu Wei's father.
"We have stored in our house fireworks that were not sold before Spring
Festival."
Police are continuing their investigation of the incident.
