XI'AN, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Four of a Chinese family died from gas poisoning
in their rented house and one was still receiving treatment, hospital sources
said Sunday.
The family of five people in Zhangjiazai Village, Zizhou County, Shaanxi
Province, was found all in coma at around 10 a.m. Saturday by the house owner
Ren Zhilian. Ren said she immediately dialed an emergency call to the Zizhou
County People's Hospital.
Medical staff said they confirmed four of them had died and only a
13-year-old girl was still alive after they arrived.
The dead were 35-year-old Wang Ning, her 58-year-old mother, seven-year-old
daughter and six-year-old son. The only survivor Gao Meiyun, Wang's elder
daughter, is receiving treatment in the Yulin City No. 1 Hospital.
Hospital sources said the girl was in stable condition. They said an
investigation showed carbon monoxide poisoning caused the tragedy. But where the
carbon monoxide came from remained unclear.
