PRAIA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Prime Minister Jose Maria
Pereira Neves of Cape Verde met here Friday with Wang Jiarui, visiting head of
the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central
Committee, for talks on relations between China and Cape Verde.
During the talks, Wang said cooperation between China
and Cape Verde has been fruitful since the establishment of diplomatic relations
between the two countries 33 years ago.
Wang said the CPC and the Chinese government attach
importance to China-Cape Verde relations and is willing to work with the country
to promote relations to a new level.
Neves said China is a reliable partner of Cape Verde
and expressed his gratitude to China for its contribution to the economic and
social development of his country over the years.
He also said Cape Verde will always view and handle
bilateral ties with China from a strategic perspective.
During his visit, Wang also held talks with Basilio
Mosso Ramos, Minister of Health and vice-chairman and secretary-general of the
ruling African Party for Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV).
The two sides highly commented on relations between
the PAICV and the CPC, and pledged further exchanges and cooperation.
Wang, leading a CPC delegation, will leave Praia on
Saturday after a successful African tour which has already taken him to Kenya,
Eritrea and Ghana.
