BEIJING, Jan. 26 (Chinese media) -- A fire in a rented room killed a 3-year-old girl and her grandparents early Monday morning in Beijing, the municipal fire bureau said.
The fire began at about 2:10 a.m. in a building in Chaoyang District. Firefighters were delayed in reaching the building, which was in a narrow lane. The grandfather was pronounced dead at the scene, while the girl and her grandmother died in the hospital.
The three were from China's central Henan Province. The family runs a vegetable business in Beijing.
Police questioned the girl's parents, who were out at the time of the fire with friends.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
