Death toll of E China drowning accident rises to 3

NANCHANG, April 18 (Xinhua) -- The policeman, who tried to rescue three
primary school students in a drowning accident Friday afternoon in eastern
China's Jiangxi Province, was confirmed dead Saturday afternoon, the publicity
department of the local government told Xinhua.

Three four-grade primary school students were swept away when swimming in a
river in Guangchang County Friday afternoon.

The bodies of two students were retrieved at around 4:40 p.m. the same day,
with another student and a policeman who had tried to rescue them missing.

The body of the policeman was found on Saturday afternoon, and the search
continues for the one student still missing.

2 die, 2 missing in drowning accident in E China county

A policeman was also missing in the rescue efforts, the sources added.

Rescue work is continuing to search for the missing.

Mountain torrents kill 5 in E China county

NANCHANG, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Five people, who had been trapped by mountain torrents Thursday at Huatanshan Town of Shangrao County, eastern China's Jiangxi Province, were confirmed dead, local government sources said Saturday.

After 24 hours of rescue efforts, the five builders with Fengshuwan Power Station, who had been trapped by the mountain torrents since Thursday afternoon, were found dead on Friday afternoon. All of the five bodies have been retrieved, according to the sources.

Cause of the incident is being investigated.
