Top political advisor: The year 2009 important for China

BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Chinese media) -- Jia Qinglin, chairman of

the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference

(CPPCC), has called 2009 an important year for China as it is the 60th

anniversary for the founding of the People's Republic of China as well as the

CPPCC itself.

Jia said this while presiding over the 10th

presidential meeting of the Eleventh CPPCC National Committee on Saturday.

The meeting was held to discuss agendas for the

upcoming fourth executive meeting of the CPPCC National Committee, on February

25-27, and the Second Session of the Eleventh CPPCC National Committee, which is

proposed to begin on March 3.

At the meeting, the participants discussed a series

of procedural issues for the two meetings.

Zhao Qizheng, chairman of the Foreign Affairs

Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, was appointed the spokesman for the

annual session in next March.

Present at the Saturday meeting were vice

chairpersons of the CPPCC National Committee Wang Gang, Liao Hui, Bai Lichen,

Chen Kuiyuan, Abulaiti Abudurexiti, Li Zhaozhuo, Huang Mengfu, Zhang Meiying,

Zhang Rongming, Sun Jiazheng, Li Jinhua, Wan Gang, Li Wenyi, Li Wuwei, Chen

Zongxing, and Wang Zhizhen.
