Senior Party official: Study 30 years' anti-corruption experience

BEIJING, Dec. 21 (Chinese media) -- A senior official of the

Communist Party of China (CPC) has called for studying the Party's experience in

fighting corruption in the past 30 years and pushing forward the anti-corruption

campaign with the spirits of reform and innovation.

The official spoke highly of the important

instructions on fighting corruption recently made by Hu Jintao, general

secretary of the CPC Central Committee, at the December 18 gathering in memory

of the historic Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh CPC Central Committee, in

late 1978, which was seen as the beginning of the Reform and Opening Up Drive.

Hu's instructions have further enriched the theoretic

system of socialism with China's own characteristics, said He Guoqiang, member

of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee,

on Sunday, at a workshop on the study of Hu's speech, which was attended by

officials of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the

Ministry of Supervision.

In his speech, He called Hu's instructions a

"political declaration" for continuing to push forward the great cause of the

Reform and Opening-up Drive under the new historic conditions. He urged the

country's discipline inspectors and supervisors to seriously study and implement

Hu's instructions.

The Scientific Concept of Development is an

importance component and a latest development of the theoretic system of

socialism with China's own characteristics, said the senior Party official, who

also heads the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Scientific development is the real meaning and

fundamental goal of the socialist road with China's own characteristics, he

stressed.

According to the official, one of the historic

resolutions adopted at the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh CPC Central

Committee was to rehabilitate the discipline inspection and supervision organs,

which were collapsed during the Cultural Revolution (1966-76).

The workshop was presided by He Yong, a member of the

Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and deputy secretary of the CPC Central

Commission for Discipline Inspection.
